On Statia, you don’t need a zoo. Just look down, and you get the best live show: hermit crabs marching up and down the Quill, constantly shopping for a better home.
Found a shell? Quick fitting session — too small, too big, too heavy… or jackpot. Sometimes they snatch each other’s house, sometimes they line up patiently.
A daily moving market, always on the go.
Fun fact? They all have the same taste. The shells almost always come from the same type of sea creature and are built to last forever and probably passed from crab to crab dozens of times.
No rush for us, but the hermit crabs are always chasing their next upgrade.
If you look closely, you’ll see the island is moving, even when everything seems still.
