Yet, nestled right beside the Franklin D. Roosevelt Airport, a local farmer works his three-hectare plot of land the organic way. His crops seem to flourish effortlessly, springing up in abundance. Thanks to the island’s modest number of daily flights from St. Maarten, CO2 emissions remain relatively limited, and so far, nature — and his harvest — appear largely undisturbed.

From his charming little vegetable shop, he sells fresh, homegrown products that carry the true taste of Statia.
