From Altitude to Harvest

The elevation difference on Statia can deliver more than just power.

The hilltop tanks could be repurposed to produce fresh water — enough to grow crops year-round, and perhaps even farm fish.
In the immediate surroundings, there’s more than enough space to develop such an ambitious project to full scale.
Dismantling the tanks would bring pollution, logistical headaches, and massive capital loss. Repurposing them for water and energy storage preserves their value while giving them a new function.

The output from sun, wind, and gravity is so high there’s still surplus energy. Enough to consider an export product: hydrogen. Ships and neighbouring islands could be supplied with this modern fuel.
The advantage? Nearly all surrounding islands run on diesel generators that can be relatively easily converted to hydrogen.

From oil port to energy hub.
Statia might just find a new role in the region.
